# Teach Ari about you

> Tell Ari your role, territory and preferences once, so every new chat starts with what it already knows.

Ari remembers lasting facts about you, so you don't have to explain your role, your territory or
how you like things done in every chat.

Every new chat with Ari starts fresh, except for its memory. Memory is a short list of facts about
you and your work that Ari carries from one chat to the next.

Your memory is yours. It belongs to you on your team. If you're on two teams, each one has its own
memory, and nothing crosses over.

## Tell Ari something to remember

Just say it. "Remember", "from now on" and "always" all work.

<AiPrompt>
  Remember that I only call West Coast prospects after 11am my time.
</AiPrompt>

<AiPrompt>
  From now on, end every call summary with the next steps as a checklist.
</AiPrompt>

You can also ask Ari what it knows, fix something, or make it forget:

<AiPrompt>
  What do you remember about me?
</AiPrompt>

<AiPrompt>
  Forget the note about the Acme renewal. That deal is closed.
</AiPrompt>

## What Ari remembers

| Kind | What goes here | Example |
| - | - | - |
| **About you** | Your role, team, territory and how you work | "The user is an enterprise SDR covering manufacturing accounts in the Midwest." |
| **Project** | A deal, account or goal you track over weeks | "The user is working the Acme renewal, due at the end of the quarter." |
| **Feedback** | A standing rule for every reply | "The user wants every call summary to end with next steps as a checklist." |
| **Reference** | A tool you rely on and what you use it for | "The user's main CRM is HubSpot." |

## What Ari saves on its own

After each reply, Ari checks whether you said something worth keeping. Most of the time, the answer
is no. It saves a fact only if it will still be true and useful next week, in a chat about
something else.

Ari does not save:

* **Requests.** "Find ten SDR managers in San Francisco" is a job for today, not a fact about you.
* **One-off results.** One odd answer is not a new rule.
* **Short-term details.** What you're about to do, or a connection that just expired.
* **Things it already knows** from your profile or the chat you're in.

If a fact is already saved, even in other words, Ari updates it instead of saving it twice.

## See and edit your memory

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Ari panel">
    Click the **Ari** button in the corner of any page.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Switch to Memory">
    Open the views menu at the top of the panel and choose **Memory**. Memories are grouped by kind.
    The ones Ari saved by itself have an **Auto** badge.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add, edit or delete">
    Add a memory with the form. Change any memory's kind, name or text, or delete it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Turn memory off

The **Memory** view has a switch. When memory is off:

* Ari saves nothing new, even when you ask it to remember.
* Ari doesn't see your saved memories.
* Your memories are kept, not deleted. Turn memory back on to use them again.

## Limits

| Item | Limit |
| - | - |
| Memories per person, per team | 100 |
| Memory name | 200 characters |
| Memory text | 1,000 characters |

When you reach 100, Ari retires the memory that matters least to make room. Facts you asked it to
remember and standing rules are kept ahead of older project notes. A retired memory can come back
for 90 days: save a memory with the same name and it returns.

## Team memory (admins)

Ari also learns facts for the whole team, like notes about accounts. Admins can clear what Ari has
learned for the team under **Settings** › **Ari**. Clearing it can't be undone.
