# Ari overview

> What Ari is, where it works, what it does on its own and what it asks about, and how it relates to the Companion, the sequencer and the dialer.

Ari is the AI employee that comes with every Salesfinity seat. It sits in your Slack workspace and
in the Salesfinity app, and it takes the back-office work off a rep's plate: building lists,
enriching contacts, keeping the CRM current, drafting and proposing outreach, watching for signals,
and reporting on what it did.

Ari never contacts a prospect directly. It drafts; the rep sends, or the sequencer sends as the rep
under the team's rules. Anything that leaves the building, changes shared data or costs money asks
for approval unless a team admin has said otherwise.

<Note>
  Ari is enabled per team. Team admins manage its name, voice, Slack connection and permissions
  under **Settings › Ari**. Each rep sees their own Ari page in the app with a feed of what it has
  done for them.

## Where Ari works

| Surface                        | What happens there                                                                                                                                                                                     |
| ------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Slack** | Direct-message Ari, or mention it in a channel or thread. It answers in-thread, posts approval cards with buttons, and delivers longer results as Slack canvases. See [Slack setup](/ari/slack-setup). |
| **In the app: Ari page** | The feed of runs, approvals, questions and proposals, the work log, and (for admins) credit spend. See [Work log and credits](/ari/work-log-and-credits). |
| **In the app: Companion chat** | The same employee in chat form, with tables, files and skills. Everything Ari does in Slack it can do here. |
| **Responsibilities** | Standing jobs Ari owns for a rep or the team, with triggers and a cadence. See [Responsibilities and routines](/ari/responsibilities-and-routines). |

## What Ari does on its own, and what it asks about

Every tool Ari can use belongs to an action class. The team's **action policy** says, per class,
whether Ari may act on its own, must ask, or is blocked. Out of the box:

| Runs on its own | Asks first |
| ------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Reading the CRM, call history, lists, emails and the web | CRM writes (create or update a contact, company, deal, task, note) |
| Drafting emails, replies, call notes, summaries | Sending anything: email, Slack posts to others, CRM-logged messages |
| Free enrichment (fields we already have or that cost nothing) | Paid enrichment (email and mobile lookups that spend credits) |
| Saving and updating skills | Sequence changes: enrolling, pausing, finishing people |
|                                                               | Deleting anything                                                   |

Paid enrichment and deletes can never be set to run on their own. See
[Approvals and permissions](/ari/approvals-and-permissions).

## How a day with Ari goes

<Steps>
  <Step title="Morning heartbeat">
    At the times the admin set, Ari checks each rep's state: follow-ups due and overdue, calls since
    it last looked, approvals and questions waiting, open proposals. If there is nothing to say it
    says nothing. If there is, it posts one short note in Slack with the items that need the rep.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ad hoc asks">
    "Build me a list of 50 VPs of Sales at Series B fintechs and find their emails." Ari plans,
    runs the free parts, and asks before the paid lookups and before anyone is enrolled.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Standing responsibilities">
    "Every Monday, tell me which of my accounts went quiet." "When a call is logged as meeting set,
    create the deal and update the contact." Ari runs these on the trigger or the cadence and
    reports in the thread or DM you chose.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Proposals">
    When Ari notices a pattern (the same overdue follow-ups every week, a list you rebuild by hand),
    it proposes to own that job. Accepting turns it into a responsibility. Dismissing it means it
    will not propose the same thing again.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Tools on Ari's desk

The sequencer, the dialer and the coach are the tools Ari uses; they are not separate products it
sits beside. A list Ari builds can go straight into a sequence (through the same preview and rules
as any other enrollment). A call a rep logs can trigger a responsibility. A reply the sequencer
classifies can become a drafted response Ari hands the rep.
