# Tasks and the inbox

> The rep inbox: call, email and to-do tasks from sequences and one-off tasks, task states, snooze, skip and reassign, and how call tasks reach the dial list.

**Sequencer › Tasks** is the rep's inbox. Every manual step that comes due appears here, along with
one-off tasks a rep creates for themselves or a teammate. Filter by sequence, priority, due date,
action or assignee, and sort by due date or company.

## Kinds of task

Tasks from a sequence carry the enrollment with them: the prospect, the step, the note and the
priority.

| Action | Where it comes from | How you complete it |
| --------- | ---------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Call** | A call step | Call from the dial list or from the task with **Call now**, then log the call. Logging a call to that person completes the task. |
| **Email** | A manual email step | Open the drafted email, edit, send. Sending completes the task. |
| **To-do** | A task step, or a reaction that created a task | Mark it done. |

One-off tasks are to-dos you create yourself. They can be a call, an email, a to-do, or a channel
the sequencer does not automate: **LinkedIn connect**, **LinkedIn message**, **LinkedIn view**,
**LinkedIn interact**, **meeting**, or **SMS**. Nothing sends for those; they are reminders to do
the thing by hand and they are completed by marking them done. One-off tasks can be created for a
single person or in bulk from a list, a table or a contact profile.

## Task states

| State | Meaning |
| --------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Pending | Open and actionable. |
| Held | The enrollment is paused (by a rep, by a reply, by the sequence being disabled), so the task waits with it. Held tasks are hidden from the inbox and cannot be completed or skipped. They return to pending when the enrollment resumes. |
| Completed | Done. The enrollment moves to the next step. |
| Skipped | A rep chose to pass. The enrollment moves to the next step. |
| Expired | Nobody got to it before the step's auto-skip deadline. The enrollment moves on. |
| Cancelled | The enrollment ended underneath the task: the prospect replied, bounced, unsubscribed, or a rep finished the enrollment. |

The difference between skipped, expired and cancelled matters for reporting: only skipped means the
rep chose not to do it.

## Snooze, skip, reassign

* **Snooze** moves the due date. The auto-skip deadline moves with it, so snoozing never hands a
  task straight to expiry.
* **Skip** passes on the step and advances the enrollment.
* **Reassign** hands the task, and for sequence tasks the whole enrollment, to another rep. From
then on emails send from the new owner's mailbox and later tasks land in their inbox.

All three work on a selection, and the result tells you what actually changed ("48 snoozed, 2 were
already done").

## Call tasks and the dial list

When a call step comes due, the prospect is placed on a **system-managed dial list** for that rep,
one list per rep. The dialer works that list like any other, and a logged call completes the task.

The dial list is reconciled against the open call tasks: completing, skipping or expiring a task
removes the prospect from the list; a task that is somehow missing from the list is put back. If
you notice a call task in the inbox that is not in your dial list, **Open call list** rebuilds it.
The response tells you how many rows the list will hold once the rebuild has run.

## Due dates and the sending window

Manual steps become due according to the sequence's timing, and like automatic emails they respect
the sending window in the prospect's timezone. A task that becomes due on a weekend shows on the
next open day.

## Activity

Every task has an activity timeline: when it was created, snoozed, reassigned, completed or
skipped, and by whom. Sequence tasks also link to the enrollment's full timeline.
