# Call people who reply to your sequences

> Turn a sequence reply that asks to talk into a high-priority call task for the rep, with one reply label and one rule. No automation tool needed.

Replies to your Salesfinity sequences are already read and sorted. Add a reply label for people who
want to talk, and one rule that turns each matching reply into a **Call** task. The rep sees it in
**Tasks**, marked high priority, and dials it from their Sequencer dial list.

This one is built in. There is no Zapier, Make or API key to set up.

Early access The Sequencer is in early access, on Enterprise, Enterprise+ and
Admin seats for teams in the early access program. The team owner and members with the Admin
license add reply labels and rules.

## When to use it

* Your email sequences run in the Salesfinity [Sequencer](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/sequencer/overview.md).
* You want a rep to call when someone writes back "call me", gives a time, or asks to talk.

Sequences in another tool, such as Instantly, Smartlead, lemlist, Apollo or Outreach? Use
[Replies in your outreach tool](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/workflows/outreach-replies.md) instead.

## What you get

When a reply matches your label:

* A **Call** task is created for the rep the person is enrolled with, due now, with your note and
priority. The task is named after the rule.
* It shows in that rep's **Sequencer › Tasks** as soon as the reply has been read.
* It goes onto the rep's own Sequencer dial list, ready to dial with the rest of their call tasks.
It is placed at once when the rep clicks **Start dialing**, and on its own a little later
  otherwise.
* The person's timeline shows **Reply matched your labels** and the task the rule made.

> [!NOTE]
>
> This is a task, not a [tagged hot lead](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/dialer/speed-to-lead.md). It does not become the rep's
> next call in the middle of a dialing session, and it sends no notification. The rep finds it
> in **Tasks** and on their dial list.

## Set it up

**1. Add a reply label**

Open **Sequencer settings** (press `G` then `,`), go to the **Replies** tab, and find
**Reply labels**. Under **Your own labels**, click **Add a label**:

* **Label name:** Wants to talk
* **What it means:** They asked for a call, gave a time or a number to call, or said to phone
  them.

Write the meaning the way you would brief a new rep. Every reply is read against it. A team
can have up to 10 labels of its own. See
[Add your own reply labels](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/sequencer/replies-and-auto-send.md#add-your-own-reply-labels).

**2. Add a rule that creates a call task**

Open the rules: **Rules ▸** next to a sequence's tabs, or **Settings › Rules** at the top
right of the Sequencer. Pick the rule set your sequences follow, then click **+ Add** on the
**What happens next** row.

* **When:** **A reply gets one of your labels**, and pick **Wants to talk**.
* **Then:** **Create a task**, with **Task type** *Call*, a **Note** such as *They asked for a
call. Read their reply before you dial.*, and **Priority** *High*.
* **Name:** something the rep will understand on a task, such as *Call: wants to talk*.

Click **Save rule**. See
[What happens next](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/sequencer/rules-of-engagement.md#what-happens-next) for every outcome and
action.

**3. Add it to every rule set you use**

A rule only works in the sequences on its rule set. Most teams use the **Team default**. If you
have more sets, such as *Inbound* and *Outbound*, add the rule to each one, or limit it with
**Only in these sequences**.

**4. Dial the tasks**

Reps open **Sequencer › Tasks**, filter to **Calls** (and **High** priority, if they like), and
click **Start dialing**, or press `C`. That places every call task that is due, this one
included, and opens the dialer. See
[Call tasks and your dial list](https://docs.salesfinity.ai/sequencer/tasks.md#call-tasks-and-your-dial-list).

## A label or "They reply interested"?

The rules editor also has a built-in **When**: **They reply interested**. It fires for every reply
read as **Interested**, including "send me more information". A label of your own is narrower: it
fires only for the replies its meaning describes.

| Use | When you want a call for |
| - | - |
| **A reply gets one of your labels** (*Wants to talk*) | People who asked for a call. Best for most teams. |
| **They reply interested** | Every interested reply. More calls, some to people who wanted an email. |
| **A meeting is booked** | People whose reply proposed or accepted a meeting time. It also fires when a call is marked *Meeting set*. |

Pick one of them to create call tasks. If two rules both create a task, one reply can give the rep
two tasks for the same person.

## Test it

1. Make a test sequence with an email step, and add yourself with your own email address and
   mobile number.
2. When the email arrives, reply: "Can you call me tomorrow at 10?"
3. Check the reply in the Sequencer **Inbox**, then open your enrollment on the sequence's
**People** tab. The timeline should show **Reply matched your labels** and the task.
4. Open **Tasks**, filter to **Calls** and click **Start dialing**. Your phone should be in the
   list.

## Good to know

* **The sequence's own reply setting still applies.** With **When they reply** on **Stop the
sequence** (the default), the reply ends the sequence, and the call task is created anyway.
* **A reply after the sequence finished changes nothing.** It still lands in the **Inbox**, but no
rule runs and no task is made. The rep answers it from there.
* **No number to dial?** If the person has no phone number, or each number is marked do not call
or wrong, or is on the do-not-contact list, the task arrives as a to-do instead, and the
timeline says why. The rep still knows to follow up.
* **Calling hours.** A call task joins the dial list between 8 AM and 8 PM in the prospect's time
zone, when it's known. Outside those hours it waits in **Tasks** and joins the list when they
  open.
* **The task goes to the person's rep.** That is the teammate the person is enrolled with, not
  whoever wrote the rule.

## Troubleshooting

| What you see | Why | What to do |
| - | - | - |
| The reply is in the Inbox, but no task | The rule is off, it's on a rule set this sequence doesn't follow, or it is limited to other sequences. Or the sequence had already finished. | Open the rules page from the sequence with **Rules ▸** and check the rule is there and on. |
| The timeline shows no **Reply matched your labels** | The reply didn't read as your label. | Make the label's meaning more concrete, with the words people use. |
| A to-do instead of a call | The person has no number the dialer can use. | Add a number to the contact, or look one up. |
| A call task in **Tasks**, but not on the dial list | It hasn't been placed yet, or it's outside the prospect's calling hours. | Click **Start dialing** with the Calls filter on. |
| Two tasks for one reply | Two rules create a task for the same reply, such as a label rule and a **They reply interested** rule. | Keep one of them. Both are on the **What happens next** row of the rules page. |
