Cancel a one-off task
Cancels an open one-off task: it moves to cancelled rather than being deleted, so queue counts and the timeline keep it, and a call task leaves the dial list. Returns { "deleted": true }.
A task from a sequence cannot be cancelled here (422): skip it, or remove the prospect from the sequence. A task already completed, skipped, expired or cancelled returns 409, so a repeat after success is a 409, not a second cancellation. Only the task’s assignee, whoever created it, or a team admin can cancel it.
The cancellation is recorded on the task’s timeline as task_skipped with payload.reason deleted. The body must carry user_id, so make sure your HTTP client sends a body with DELETE. Counts against the Sequencer writes rate limit.
cancelled, so reports and the timeline still show that it existed and was dropped.
Example
DELETE unless you send it explicitly.
Good to know
- Tasks from a sequence are refused with 422. Skip them, or remove the prospect from the sequence.
- Cancelling a task that is already resolved returns 409, so a repeated request is a 409 rather than a second cancellation.
- A call task is removed from the dial list.
