Delete a step

Deletes one step. Later steps move up one place, so order stays continuous. Templates the step used are not deleted.

Refused with 409 while any enrollment in the sequence is active or paused, for the same reason as reordering; disabling the sequence does not lift it. pending enrollments do not block.

This DELETE takes a JSON body carrying user_id, who must be the author, the team owner or a team admin. A retry after a success returns 404. Counts toward the Sequencer writes rate limit.

user_id must be the sequence’s author, the team owner or a team admin. A retry after a successful delete gets a 404. Deleting an email step is refused with a 400 when the next email would then start the thread and is an auto_email step with a template that has no subject. Give that template a subject first. To drop a step from a sequence people are moving through, duplicate the sequence, delete the step from the copy, and move people over with Move enrollments to another sequence.
